Our Top Ten DC Comic Characters: (7 - 9)

Number Seven: Wonder Woman

Diana of Themyscira or Wonder Woman to you and i, the warrior Princess of the Amazons first appeared in December 1949 and has become a mainstay of DC Comics, appearing pretty much non-stop in the comics ever since her creation by William Moulton Marston.

Wonder Woman comes in at number seven in our list, (a) because we can all appreciate a strong woman and they don’t get any stronger than her and (b) she’s got the Lasso of Truth - something we’d all like to have a loan of.

Number Eight: Lex Luthor

Evil Genius, Mad Scientist, Business Man, Super Villain - not the best ad for a lonley hearts advert but Lex Luthor comes in at Number Eight in our DC Comics top ten characters. Lex Luthor, a supervillian who doesn’t have any real super powers but still takes on all comers (Superman, Batman - anyone) - you’ve got to admire him for that.

Lex Luthor first appeared in 1940 and was created by Jerry Siegel &
Joe Shuster and has appeared in several Superman films and was portrayed by the great Gene Hackman in 1978 (only downer was the rubbish wigs) and by the equally fantastic Kevin Spacey in Superman Returns, the character has been reinvented throughout time and was brought into the 21st century via Michael Rosenbaum’s portrayal in Smallville.

Number Nine: Deathstroke

Another supervillian (sometimes Anti-hero) comes in, at Number Nine on our list. Deathstroke the Terminator (Slade Wilson) is quite a recent addition to the DC family, appearing in 1980 (created by Marv Wolfman & George Pérez).

We’re a big fan of the Mortal Combat franchise and Deathstroke has that cool Sub Zero martial arts vibe going on and although he hasn’t got the history or films and TV that the other DC Characters on our list may have his roles in the Identity Crisis miniseries and in Infinite Crisis (read them, read them, read them) is enough to earn Deathstroke a place in our top ten.
